Fatyly
Fatimaty Ly launched her ceramics brand Fatyly in 2015, creating one of Africa’s first hard paste porcelain houses, with collections produced in the industry’s ‘spiritual home’, Limoges. A graduate of Central Saint Martin’s, Ly cites a number of inspirations for her work: from Seni Camara, the legendary Senegalese sculptor, to rituals, contemporary culture, and more prosaically her passion for different cuisines. Informing her design process and raison d’être is a desire to elevate the dining experience into the realm of performance art, with each piece in her collection adding to the composition. The result is porcelain that both celebrates community and identity.
