Dakar-based Ousmane Mbaye designs furniture  and objects. His preferred material is galvanised iron, but the self-taught designer has also used other recycled materials, embracing in his own words, the Bauhaus philosophy of ‘learning by doing’. Having launched his eponymous brand a little over a decade ago, his pieces have been feted and attracted collectors both on the continent and beyond. Creating a new dialogue around notions of repurposing waste, his pieces blur the line between utility and decorative design.
