Hamed Ouattara though born in 1971 in Ouagadougou was largely inspired by the 1980s, an era defined by global capitalism, political upheaval, convergence of mass media, wealth discrepancies and distinctive music and fashion, characterised by hip hop and electronic pop music. Like other artists, these had a profound effect on art created during this era influencing Ouattara’s tactile approach to design. Ouattara’s taken part in several collective and individual exhibitions in Ouagadougou and held exhibitions abroad in Brussels, Strasbourg and Turin.
